What lead time do you need for a drayage move at the port?
For standard drayage in and out of the Port of NY/NJ we ask for 24 to 48 hours notice so we can schedule the terminal appointment and stage a chassis. When a container is available and free of holds, we can often turn same-day or next-day moves. Call dispatch at (908) 353-3100 for time-critical containers and we will work it into the schedule.
Do you provide the chassis, and how do you handle per-diem and demurrage?
Yes. We source chassis through the terminal pools and our own equipment so you do not have to arrange one. Because we are minutes from the terminals, we keep dwell time low, which reduces per-diem and demurrage exposure. We flag containers approaching last free day and prioritize them so you avoid avoidable port and steamship-line charges.
What documents do I need for a cross-border shipment to Canada or Mexico?
A commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading are the baseline. Depending on the commodity you may also need a certificate of origin (USMCA), and for regulated goods the relevant permits. As a FAST-certified carrier we can move through dedicated lanes at the border. Our team and our licensed customs brokerage will tell you exactly what is required for your commodity and lane before the freight ships.
Do you handle hazardous materials?
Yes. D2 is authorized to transport hazmat and our drivers hold the required endorsements. Provide the proper shipping name, UN number, hazard class, and a completed shipping paper or SDS, and we will match the load to a qualified driver and compliant equipment. Certain classes and quantities require advance coordination, so let dispatch know when you request the quote.
Are you insured, and what coverage do you carry?
D2 Logistics carries commercial auto liability and cargo insurance that meets or exceeds FMCSA requirements, and we maintain active operating authority under USDOT 2364870 / MC 810730. Certificates of insurance naming your company or terms can be issued on request — just ask dispatch and we will have our provider send it over.
How do I track my freight, and do you support EDI?
You get real-time status on every container and trailer, with milestone updates by email and, for regular partners, EDI (204/214/210 and related transactions) integrated with your TMS. Proof of delivery is available on request. If you need a specific integration or portal, our team will set it up during onboarding.
What is your service area?
We are based in Woodbridge, NJ and anchored at the Port of NY/NJ for drayage and intermodal. From there we run regional FTL and LTL throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and we provide cross-border service to Canada and Mexico. For lanes outside our direct footprint we coordinate freight forwarding so your shipment still moves under one point of contact.

What are your payment terms?
We offer standard Net 30 terms to approved commercial accounts following a short credit application. New customers can start on prepay or credit-card terms while the account is set up. Invoices include supporting documents such as the BOL and POD so your AP team can reconcile without back-and-forth.
How do I start working with D2?
Reach out to dispatch by phone or email and tell us about your typical freight and lanes. We set up your account, exchange the necessary documents including a certificate of insurance and, if needed, an EDI or portal connection, and schedule your first load. Most shippers are moving freight with us within a day or two of first contact.
